About us

Mind Body Midlothian was founded in late 2018 by Becky Robertson. Following the success of her former business Pilates with Becky and demand for more classes, Becky began to build a small team of Pilates teachers in Midlothian. Additionally, adding in her Yoga teacher training qualification and Yoga classes to the timetable, Pilates with Becky needed a rebrand… and so Mind Body Midlothian was born.

Our warm, friendly studio is on the outskirts of Bonnyrigg, where people of all ages, sizes, shapes and abilities are welcome. We offer a range of classes and 1-1 sessions throughout the week. Read more about our team of wonderful teachers below.

About me

Hello! I’m Becky and I began working in the fitness industry over 10 years ago and was inspired to train as a Pilates teacher after seeing the difference Pilates makes to people.

As a mum of two young kids I understand the importance of creating you-time in the busy muddle of life. Before having my baby daughter my day job was sitting at a desk in an office… where there wasn’t much movement. This showed me first-hand the difficulties and issues brought about by leading a sedentary work life. I love the freedom teaching Pilates & Yoga has given me and I am so excited to share these styles of movement with you and hope you feel the benefits as much as I do.

I absolutely love working with beginners and seeing the progress and achievements my clients make… no matter how small they are. If you have any questions at all, please do get in touch, even just for a chat!

Alexis Rumbles

About me

Hello! I’m Alexis and 3 years ago I embarked on my Pilates journey, it has been amazing! I love the “me time” and how relaxed it makes me feel, the postural & pelvic floor benefits are great and I have the best sleep! I have trained as a Pilates teacher with the EnergyWise Academy and gained my Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates. I want others to have a brilliant experience and feel their best.

I am a registered nurse and previously a midwife. I am really passionate about the health and wellbeing of Mums and babies, So I have decided to take my training further and specialise in pre & postnatal Pilates. I am currently on the Well Mama course which allows me to work closely with mum and baby groups. The training allows me to teach Pilates safely whilst pregnant or post natally.

About me

Hi, I am the Administrator & a Pilates Instructor for Mind Body Midlothian. I was a former nurse with 16 years experience in the NHS. 6 of those interesting years were spent in the Intensive Care Unit.

20 months ago I tried a Pilates class at Mind Body Midlothian, I knew I needed a new focus, other than work. That hour of “me time” every week was exactly what was needed physically and mentally. As my personal Pilates journey evolved I decided to train as an instructor, I wanted to share what I was learning with others and teach then how beneficial Pilates is for your mind and body.

I have gained a level 3 diploma in Mat Pilates through The EnergyWise Academy, which was a wonderful experience. I look forward to meeting you in class.

Kim Skirving

About me

Hi, I am a newly qualified Pilates Teacher having just completed my level 3 diploma in mat Pilates with The EnergyWise Academy. I started taking classes a few years ago at Mind Body Midlothian and found that it was amazing to carve out that bit of time for me to mentally rest and physically move and repair my body. From there I was inspired to complete my teaching diploma.

My day job is office based, meaning that most of my day is spent in a sedentary position. I had started to notice the toll it was taking on my body, with general aches and pains. I’m a mum of 3 young children too and found that between work and motherhood there was very little time left for me.

I completely understand the many competing priorities that can take over our lives. I aim to make my classes achievable, with just the right amount of challenge, for everyone at all levels in order to make them enjoyable so you can fully rest and restore in a safe and fun environment.

I’m really looking forward to share my love of Pilates with you!

Donna Nelson

About me

Hello! I’m Donna and I’ve been practicing Yoga since 2001. I’m a 200hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) which is a distinction given to yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance requirements. In addition, I’m a qualified ‘Special Needs & Mindfulness for Autism and ADHD Practitioner’, a ‘Yin and Restorative Practitioner’ and an ‘Understanding the Stress Response Practitioner’. I also specialise in teaching children, young people and families yoga and I’m a qualified ‘Children’s Yoga Teacher’ with the Global Teaching School ‘Kidding Around Yoga’.

I believe strongly about the benefits yoga can bring to everyone’s mental health and well-being. I support individuals in working with their challenges and building their confidence and self-esteem, I also help them to recognise their strengths and abilities allowing them to self-regulate and take what they have learned in the yoga sessions with her out into other environments, which allows them to celebrate their unique inner light, and to shine that light brightly for all the world to see.

Jenny Lister

About me

Hello! I’m Jenny and I have worked as a PE teacher for more than 20 years and taught Pilates for coming up 3 years.

Having had personal experience of how Pilates, specifically realistic Pilates, can positively impact health and well being was what inspired me to train as a Pilates teacher.

I continue to develop my knowledge by attending professional development sessions and have recently completed my 200hr Level 3 Yoga teacher training, with The EnergyWise Academy at Queen Margaret University. My priorities when teaching is to keep you safe, working and make sure you are enjoying your class.

Sabrina Hennings

About me

Hello! I’m Sabrina, a qualified Pilates teacher who fell in love with Pilates 6 years ago while studying at university towards a business degree. The Pilates classes I attended were the time I gave myself to relax and look after myself, and I always left the classes feeling so much happier, calmer and revitalised. Pilates helped me so much with both the physical and mental stresses of university study and I quickly noticed the long term positive effects Pilates was having on me. I decided then that I wanted to become a Pilates instructor so that I could help others to enjoy the benefits of Pilates as much as I enjoy it!

Originally from New Zealand, I love the outdoors, baking healthy treats, and all things health and wellness! Whether you are new to Pilates, or have some background experience, I make sure to tailor my classes to all levels and abilities to ensure everyone is safe, and working at a level that is right for them. I want to make sure you have fun in your class, and leave my class feeling cheerful, inspired, and ready to tackle the rest of your day. I can’t wait to help you to start living your best Pilates life!
